Where I live there is an 1850s school house and farmstead but all have been fenced off since teenagers tried to burn them down and they are in such poor repair. I find it so sad to see beautiful old buildings in ruin so it makes me so happy to see that isn't the case with these ones. You look beautiful as ever in these photos, I'm glad you're having a wonderful summer :)Harlow Darlinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10056854974745972300noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1838907812842203131.post-24805388126855381442013-06-04T01:42:27.935-04:002013-06-04T01:42:27.935-04:00There's a TV commercial here in Canada (it mig...There's a TV commercial here in Canada (it might be shown in the States, too, I'm not sure) where a chap is in a swimming pool in the summer, he blinks, and suddenly it's snowy and middle of winter. Reverse the seasons and that's pretty much what it feels like happened here this year, too. We went from snow at the end of April to +31C in early May! The second half the month was more in keeping with the seasonal norm though, but I sense that we're in for a real scorcher of a summer this year.

That one room schoolhouse is a such a wonderful slice of the past. I've always had a fondness for old schoolhouses, and wish I could have gotten my education in an old-fashioned one roomer like that, too.

Wishing you a gorgeous, fun filled June, dear Dakota!
♥ Jessica Witchcrafted Lifehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02992822472797191121noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1838907812842203131.post-7486114780706480372013-06-03T21:03:21.068-04:002013-06-03T21:03:21.068-04:00Thanks! All over Northern Alberta - the province in Canada I am from - are dilapidated barns, school houses and wheat silos left over from the days of train towns. This post reminds me a lot of those places, although Vermont looks much, much prettier and is probably way older. There isn't much like that in New Zealand, but you can find old schoolhouses dotted around rural, agricultural areas. The single room my grandad was educated in still stands, derelict, in an overgrown field. How he became such a wise and learned person from that background is amazing to me.

Love the dress also.
