spring fling ♡

Some dresses I'm excited to wear this April ♥
With Easter around the corner, I've been reaping inspiration for Springtime fashions!!
This Spring I am particularly inspired by the early 1960s, when Dior's romantic New Look silhouettes still prevailed, only brighter and more playful, with wonderfully exuberant hair and makeup to match. I especially adore the contrast between ethereal, innocent frocks and the harsh haughty make-up of 1950s fashion models; the sugary wardrobe of a princess, but the regal bearing of a queen!

  2. Oh, these images are all kinds of fabulous! I'm so in the mood for an Easter, confectionery, pastel garden palette at the moment, too. I'm also feeling bolder make-up choices (if only in theory...I used to be braver on that front in my teens, but rarely venture into the vivid eye make-up zone any more) as we launch into the sunny season once more as well.

    1. Thanks! You should definitely go for it with the vivid eye makeup!! Some jewel toned eye-shadows would look smashing with your red locks! :)

    1. Hehe, it's been chilly and decidedly non-springlike here in VT, but I disregard this ;)

    1. When I think of 1950s high fashion, I think of Jean, with those impeccable arched brows and willowy poses! I can definitely see the influence in your own graceful style!

    1. I want every single outfit Shirley Maclaine wore in that film!! It's such a hilarious satire, too; I very rarely find myself laughing at '50s/'60s "comedies", but this one is brilliant!

  7. Mostly I want an amazing collection of 40's-50's play suits! Preferably two piece, but I do love the one pieces aswell...otherwise my wardrobe is limited as I just moved countries, so I need to stock up on things like shift dresses and some nice floating pastel coloured ones, like what you have pictured in your first photo.
yay! spring! Let me match the blossoms please ^_^

    1. Oh, playsuits are the cutest!! I have a few '50s numbers but feel weird wearing them outside of a pool/beach environment, but I want to start wearing them more often this summer.

  8. That pink floral cardigan is my inspiration!! Actually, anything with flowers. I think I'm going to be wearing a lot of flowers this spring and summer. I recently found a dress with butterfly print. I've never been a fan of butterflies, but having this dress is making me want more butterfly things--specifically monarchs. So, monarch butterflies and flowers are my spring inspirations!

    1. Haha, I know what you mean... I live deep out in the country, and have resigned myself to being a delusional Backwoods Barbie (like Dolly Parton!). Your sewing plans sounds fabulous!!
