Yay! This morning my fringed western shirt and cowboy boots made me the laughing stock of the library (well, the laughing stock of a handful of unpleasant "bros"/jock guys) so this post is my silent rebuttal ;)
Maybe it's because my mom is from Oklahoma, but I have a soft spot in my heart for vintage western wear. Is it bad that when I watch "Gunsmoke", I secretly pine for the big hair and western style faux Victorian dresses?
Josie, I'm so happy you like Sparkle Moore too; she's incredible, but not many people I know seem to have heard of her :(
Sarah, I coveted those TV Western actresses' looks so badly when I was in highschool!! Those saloon gals and pioneer ladies looked really really cool, with the combination of Victorian clothes and '60s/'70s hair and makeup.
Lisa, thank you, it WAS killer, haha! (As in Jerry Lee Lewis, maybe? But still!) I take the bemusement of the my generic-looking peers as a sign I'm doing things right ;)
I must remember that quote and start teasing my hair up to reach god!! I wonder if really, really big floral headbands count? It's so weird, but as I write this I'm listening to Woody Guthrie, who you introduced me too. I'm hooked! Now you have provided me with more musical talents and some amazing pics! I love the one with the girl in the nose bandage - do you think she's just had a nose-job? Thank you lovely Dakota. xoxo
I too am a vintage loving country girl, so glad I found your blog! The higher the hair the closer to God, so true! I usually prefer a 60s style coif, but these are totally fantastic!
xoxo, annie
I'm hosting a vintage dress GIVEAWAY on my blog, hope you will stop by!
This is such a seriously delightful post. I adore every last image, but am especially taken by the gun totting lingerie models (so that's how the west was really won! :D).
Thank you for the fabulously inspiring western wear images, dear gal!
Oodles of hugs & cheerful Sunday wishes, ♥ Jessica

ReplyDeleteHaha yes, I do believe that is the shirt. Sometimes I spot items that I own in thrift stores and it's always weird seeing another of them.

Jessica, that doll in the bloomers is Jane Russell herself! It was for a French girly mag, around the time of her Western "the Outlaw", I believe!
