queen of the cornfield

Hey there, folks. It's been awhile since I showed my face, so I though I'd change that. It's been a busy last few weeks as I cram in as much summer fun as I possibly can. Tomorrow I'm heading back to University for another round of learnin'. Hopefully my classes will be fun. I have a film studies class that exclusively covers the Silent era... we have a whole text book just on Buster Keaton, my favorite actor ever... needless to say, I'm quite excited. I'm in mourning over the end of summer though; really now, how did it slip away so quickly?!

This cornfield is this place, all grown up. I take lots of walks up there with my dog. Running through corn stalks sounds a lot more romantic than the actuality; really, the place is dripping with big daddy longlegs waiting to pounce, so I avoid the actual corn as much as I can, hehe.

Enjoy the weekend!!!

  6. I'm completely jealous of your film class. i'm majoring in film studies, and the silent era is my favourite era of film, but alas we have no class devoted to the study of silent film.

  7. Lovely, as always.
That silent film studies class sounds like a dream! I wish my uni offered something like that! You'll have to keep us posted on any good films you get to see.
Are you getting any kind of weather due to the hurricane? I know you're not too close to the coastline but I hope all is well. <3

  9. Thank you kindly, friends!! I forgot to write in outfit details, but it's a '50s house dress, Remix wedges, and '50s silk scarf.

Rachel, we're going to have some torrential downpours coming our way. And on the first day of class, fancy that! Still, I'm lucky to be tucked away high and dry in the mountains.

  13. The photo of you deep in the corn is one of my favorite images of you, the red outfit against all the green is wonderful. Also, for a housedress your frock is very well tailored!

I'm mourning the end of summer too as Chicago winters are so harsh... am squeezing every last bit of fun out of it. I did just buy a vintage Sailor jacket that I'm dying to wear though, it's wool so won't be able to wear it for a few months.
