shipshape & bristol fashion

(Outfit: 1940s sailor shirt; 1910s/20s antique slip; 1970s vintage shoes)

Do you ever find yourself getting incredibly inspired by one rather random image? I found this picture on this magical tumblr and suddenly I became enthralled with the idea of flapper-meets-sailor style! I'm not sure just who these gals are, but they remind me of Mack Sennett's Bathing Beauties, another huge inspiration for me this spring.

  8. I've definitely planned a whole outfit around a photo before. Sometimes I get so frustrated though if I don't have what it takes to recreate it! You did an awesome job here though. You look so amazing! I love those shoes. ^_^

  9. Thanks gals!! This was one of those outfits where I felt dangerously close to looking costumey, but it was fun nevertheless. I'm glad you like the shoes... they're late 60s/early 70s and I think they were originally disco shoes, haha! But they're also dead ringers for 20s tapdancing shoes, so it's all good.
