Hi! It's still Easter week, so happy Easter!!!

Easter is my favorite holiday, 'cause it's the cutest, and I get to be a twee-as-fuck pastel-clad princess. For Easter Sunday, I wore a 1950s daffodil-hued chiffon prom gown & a 1950s bonnet in a dusky tulle (with flowers underneath!). My puppy dog even had a spot at the brunch table-- adorable. I luv you, Easter!!!

When I found this cool eyelet gown at the antique mall last week for all of $15, I just had to make it mine---it reminds me so very much of the puffed-sleeve, full-skirted Southern belle/debutante gowns so many '30s and '40s boudoir dolls wear!!! My own mean-mugging boudoir dolly Lili Marlene sports a similar gown herself.

Greetings earthlings! Would you believe, so soon after this post, I stumbled upon this jewel of a 1950s Egyptian-themed dress?! 'Twas $10 at a sale at my favorite antiques store, and though I need another summer dress like a hole in my head, I couldn't turn down this stroke of good fortune.

I don't believe I have done a proper outfit post to this site since the autumn... and here it is, almost Spring! Well, I've spent most of the winter in California where I didn't have a digital camera, and then the California Casual bug bit me hard! Now I'm back in the 802; time to get back in the game!! I'll confess I'd rather wear this dress with bare arms and sandals, but in spite of all my daydreaming it is winter. (Hence the funny turtleneck ;)

For my American friends, I hope you've got President's Day off and are having a grand weekend. I'm visiting my family, and reveling in a spot of sunny Spring-like weather ♥

Greetings!!

Well, these days I've been craving color and pop-art vividness like never before. Must be the gloomy time of year... here on my country lane, I'm surrounded by exquisitely bleak vignettes of brown fields draped in frost, skeletal tree branches teeming with crows, and dead leaves wafting around the cemetery. In the past I've gotten all into that ~gothic ambiance~, but this year I'm like "no thanks". Roll on the sixties looks, 'cause nothing says summertime fun like a li'l mod dress and big hair, and I don't want realism, I want MAGIC!

It's the final resting place for some very well-off Vermonters of yore, just full of grand old monuments.

Hey there, hi there, ho there folks. 
Though it may be Winter by the calendar, it is truly starting to feel Springtime here in the Green Mountains. I welcomed the warm winds with a bright spot o' gingham last weekend, when I was still at home on March Holiday.

One of the best parts of March is MAPLE SUGARING!!!

Seeing the curls of smoke from all the little sugar houses is the surest sign of Spring in Vermont. How I love hearing the drip-drop of sweet sap in little tin buckets as I walk along the roads. And best of all is tasting that fresh-boiled maple syrup on a stack of pancakes, mmm. We've had an unusually mild winter, so I couldn't indulge in my favorite treat of sugar on snow this year, but you can bet I'll be having some sugar on vanilla ice cream this weekend ;)

Here are two li'l school outfits from this week. In anticipation of the new season of Mad Men (25 March!) I have been rewatching Seasons 1 and 2. Combine this with my weariness of winter's drab hues, and I've found myself quite fixated on vivid early '60s looks of late.....

Here are some photos of my New Year's get-up, snapped before dinner. Now, I am not much of a glamour girl-- I'll take feedsack over silk any day-- but it is fun to play dress-up when the occasion calls for it. This is my ten-dollar 1940s dress; it's pretty dreamy! I topped it off with my beloved '10s or '20s embroidered jacket, and a '50s fur collar.
